BIG SING RAISES £4,000

Click here for some video highlights of us all in full voice at Strule Arts Centre back in September 2009. Thanks to Norma Burrowes for the great picture. The combined Omagh and Enniskillen branches of 'Together one Voice' were joined by guests and friends and raised not just the roof, but £4,000 for WaterAid as well. With additional guest spots from hugely talented duo of Maeve Dunphy & Jerome McGlynn, and spine-tingling solos from Victoria Geelan and Ester Janzen, this was a night of top class entertainment by any standards, with the extra feel-good factor of supporting a vital charity. Tony Macaulay was the excellent compere. Huge thanks to all concerned- performers, audience and the professional, friendly staff at Strule Arts.

'Sing for Water' has raised over £300,000 worldwide for WaterAid projects in Africa and India, helping some of the world’s poorest people gain access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene. We're planning an even BIGGER SING for WaterAid in 2011. Onwards and upwards.

Come and join us!

The 'Together One Voice' classes are under way again- cast your eye to the right for full details. I teach the Natural Voice Technique, pioneered by the great Frankie Armstrong whose philosophy is, 'if you can speak you can sing', so throw away that old 'I can't sing' line, and experience the joy, the therapy, the thrill of singing with a group of lively, energetic people.

The songs are taught by ear without sheet music. I teach a mixture of songs and styles from around the world, ranging from simple chants, to more complex songs in three and four part harmony. Singing is good for the soul they say; it makes you feel great, it creates a wonderful feeling of community, and the joy of singing in harmony in a large group is second to none. Try it and see!

workshops

I also run singing workshops for schools, community groups and business organizations. Singing is therapeutic for people of all ages and abilities, in areas such as mental health, older people, young children, teenagers, mothers and babies. I normally provide a two-hour taster session, or a full day session for schools. Group singing works a treat too in corporate team building workshops; working with the voice and song offers a rich experience to the individual and the group with many long term benefits: better co-operation, enhanced and strengthened relationships, energised communication. People feel uplifted by creating shared music in multi-part harmony; it promotes a sense of achievement and well being in any group- and it sounds great.
